Atlanta

I've been to the Atlanta airport about a half a dozen times, I don't really fly that much, but have never spent time in the city. It doesn't have the best reputation and is on the list for most rudest cities in America, coming in at number 6. I think it is just the curse of being a large city and always being frustrated by transportation and the time you need to get anywhere. The level of service in the city is equivalent to being in California, especially at a Chick-fil-a. There is also a lot of short tempered drivers that run red lights and turn in front of you. Also, watch out for the Saturday night life, because it is for 21 and over. Now that we have had the airing of the grievances, let's learn about what made Atlanta and how it truly is a beautiful city.

Atlanta is a fairly new city that was founded in 1837. Atlanta orignated as a railway terminal in the 19th century and turned into an airport hub in the 20th. The airport has seven concourses and an impressive monorail system to transport you to your flight or luggage. Just north of the airport is Atlanta's impressive skyline. You can find some of the most beloved names in food consumption, Chick-fil-a and Coca-Cola, headquartered here and some of the largest game changers in the Nation: CNN, Delta, Home Depot, and UPS. Then to top of Atlanta's success of being such a prosperous city, they hosted the Olympic Games in 1996. You can still see the architecture impression the games cast on Atlanta. Of course now-a-days, Atlanta is known for the hit TV show, the Walking Dead. Haven't seen and I probably never will.

It hasn't been all great moments for Atlanta. Like most cities, Atlanta has had its dark moments: being burned to the ground during the Civil War; dealing with the Jim Crow laws and segregation. Atlanta has pulled itself out of the past and has created a vibrant diverse culture, but its Southern roots show through in the cooking and the culture, which to me is a good thing. Once you get past the exterior and first meeting, you find a kindness in those that live here. It's the people and culture that make up a city and it is a beautiful city.

About Us

One of my favorite photographers, Reggie Campbell, took this photo. For an instance we look like a typical family, but we're not. We deal with autism, adhd, anxiety disorder, sensory issues and dyslexia, but that doesn't stop us from discovering America. Welcome to our adventure as we explore our parks and amazing cities.
